Monday, October 11
1. The date of the prom is May 21. To choose between the dates of May 21 and May 28, as many parents and students were polled as possible through e-mail and facebook. The votes for each date were essentially split. The decision for May 21 was based on:a. avoiding Memorial Day weekendb. avoiding the weekend of the State Track and Baseball Championships
2. After a class vote, the theme is Arabian Nights.
3. Much discussion again about Grand March. Cheryl Meadows and Theresa Titus will be contacting SU and Asbury United Methodist Church about availability and cost of facilities for May 21.
4. The idea of an After Prom Party was discussed again and was supported by the several students in attendance as well as the parents. Susan Flanagan, Gaerria Repine and Steve Hetzler will contact Crown and the YMCA about availability and cost.
5. Some discussion of "class" flower, color, motto, etc. Riley Dunworth will lead a committee of seniors and will give a report at our next meeting.
6. Targeting Memorial Garden as the recipient of the class gift has unanimous support. Katelyn DeFiore has suggested that a weeping willow tree be planted in the garden, too.
7. Shirts were discussed and will continue to be for sale through this week. Tiera Jennings suggested that we explore the sale of Class hoodies. The idea was met with great enthusiasm. Leah Carpenter will get pricing and minimum order information and report to me within the week. If it is feasible, we will sell hoodies and shirts through at least October 22. It was suggested that I add the order form for the shirts (and possibly the hoodies) to the wikispace. It was also suggested that the order form be sent home via the e-mail list. Both suggestions will be implemented within a few days. Additionally, Quinn Prunty will create a facebook page.
8. Approximately 15 minutes were spent in individual committee, with students sitting in on all committees. Committees gave a brief report of their goals, concerns, questions. All committees will report again on November 15.
